My trip would have been incomplete if I had not stayed at this place in Varanasi. Heaven on earth in terms of hospitability, gives a homely feeling. Dr Arvind ji (Owner) is gem of a person. He is always available for his guests at hotel. One has to spend time with him to understand Varanasi, Spiritualism. I was awestruck with the knowledge he possess with very minute detail. After much deliberation we decided to go with Anand Kanan guesthouse for our maiden five day trip to Kashi in December. Even though we were briefed on how to reach the property, it was initially a bit difficult to navigate the narrow alleyways of Kashi. The rooms are very neat and clean and the host and staff are a pleasure to interact with. It was a totally rewarding and memorable experience to share our time with the host, who happens to be a subject matter expert, to exchange the local gossip over a cup of fresh ginger tea. Special props to Chintamani ji for promptly providing fresh towels, water bottles, and refreshing ginger tea. Do note that this property has been recently renovated and the elevator and breakfast area are in the works. We would definitely stay here on our next trip to Kashi. This place is in the close proximity of Dashashwamedh Ghat and Kashi Vishwanath Temple. If you are taking an auto into Kashi, the nearest landmark is Jangamwadi Math. We were able to catch the evening Ganga aarti few times and also visit Assighat for the early morning boat ride and live performance by the local artists.
